It's Xi Again~

Today was a good day. I was able to sleep in and operate at my own pace today. I went to the gym and killed it. Rather, it killed me. That Stair Master is no joke. I did an hour of cardio then a few weights. I've been focused and staying on my exercise plan (six days with one day of rest) and it's working for me. I stood at the mirror and looked at myself naked and I can honestly say, I look good! I've noticed a definite change in my shape. I'm getting my hour glass back (I'm bringing sexy back!). It was at that point that I knew I was doing something right and I'm motivated to continue. It is for this reason I tend to stay away from scales. I've lost a total of 20lbs in two and 1/2 months. Now normally this would upset me because I feel the loss (number wise)is rather slow. But there's so much more to this experience than a number. My pants are sagging off of me. For the first time in years I find myself wearing a belt. I guess I'm saying this as a reminder to those who choose to weigh themselves on a regular basis. Although it is a helpful tool, don't put too much stock into your scales. A lot of times we get too dependent on a number and we forget about the other wonderful changes that are occurring as well. Much success to you all! ~ Xi

Xi-
I really like what you said about focusing on that number on the scale. I think the scale is most useful to me in keeping me in check when the number goes up too much. Maybe we should think about posting our weight each monday, but also our measurements, or an assesment of how we FEEL. When someone asked me how much weight I had lost so, after not seeing me for a couple weeks, I told them 12 pounds. They said "Well that 12 pounds sure does look like alot more!" That made me think, I do LOOK like I've lost so much more, because of the muscle and shape of my body. So, while we can all be proud of our weight loss, there is definetly alot more to it.

Hi Xi--you've got a great attitude!! it's not so much about the number on the scale, but about how our clothes are fitting, how we are feeling, and how we now view ourselves. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I think that's an important aspect of weight loss. I can recall many a days when I was sooo frustrated and gave up too soon because my numbers (scale) didn't match that stupid height to ratio chart. I wish I knew then what I knew now and maybe my metabolism and body wouldn't have suffered the abuse I put it through with all the quick fix schemes and yo-yo dieting. Here's to healthy living ladies and gents!
