Back from Florida

Hi Ladies,
It's good to see so many of you back on here! I have been away on business for the past 12 days, and before that I had a 20 mile charity walk and two finals. Needless to say, it was hard to stick to my regular diet & exercise routine. I was in sticky, hot Florida (I don't know how you gals down in Houston deal with that kind of heat/humidity!) and ended up swimming twice (the pools were not very big, and I didn't always have time to get my hair wet, AND I'm a sucky swimmer), and I went for a run down by the water one evening. As far as eating, I was pretty much on a take-out/eat-out diet the entire time, but hopefully didn't do too much damage (other than VERY CRITICAL ice cream. It was 94 and humid.) Fortunately, I didn't drink any alcohol or other empty calories. Haven't weight back in yet.

I've got a 5-mile road race on June 7th. I really, really need to get back to running so that it doesn't kick my butt. One good take-away from that trip to FL was that if I can run in 86-90 degree humidity, a sunny 70 degree day in Boston is not an acceptable excuse. When I landed, I did a big grocery shopping trip and made sure to stock up on fruits, meat and veggies. I've managed to keep myself to egg-white omlettes & turkey bacon for breakfast with a slice of bread for breakfast, and a salad with grapes and string cheese as a snack for lunch. I think we're going to grill either shrimp or turkey burgers tonight.

Goals: run tonight, tomorrow afternoon, Sunday. Bike ride on Saturday.

Take care,
Beth
