Bad me

On Tuesday my boyfriend and I had some friends over. We made cupcakes. I had a few of those. Then I had more snacks. And some more. I pretty much ate a bunch of junk food. My body punished me the next day. I really need to hit the grocery store and get some more fruits stocked up. I also need to go back to planning several dinners for the week on Sunday night and then making sure things get made. The biggest key for me is making sure my lunch is healthy - if it is I'm more likely to eat a better dinner.

My exercise has suffered this week too. I was going to go running yesterday, but it was pouring rain and windy before a doctor's appointment. After the appointment I didn't want to go because I'd had a mole removed under my arm, and didn't want to open up the hole. I need to go today. I signed up for a half marathon in October, but if I'm going to do it I need to start running now.

Strength training is something that I'm having the biggest problem with. Does anyone not go to a gym for strength training? I don't have the money to spend and I would love some tips or advice as to how to do an effective workout at home.

calithenics(hope that's spelled right)! They are the perfect at home workout, and the best part is that since you're using your body and not weights, it's classified as resistance training and can be done back to back, so if you don't have time in your schedule to skip a day, you don't have to. These consist of the old fashioned exercises such as push ups, squats, lunges, sit ups (of different variations for all ab muscle groups), and those absolutely fun arm circles that seemed so pointless in grade school! No weights, and not even alot of room, to use, a cal workout is a great start. I hate weights. I prefer to use my body weight as my counterweight.

The February issue of self had a great workout, it was like an old school, Jane Fonda style workout featured. You should check that out...hold on....well I tried to find the link on the Self website with no luck...they desperately need a seach box Anyway, if you go on the website, most of the fitness videos are cal style workouts. No weights, and if you email self, and ask about the workout I just told you, the old school one, they will gladly send you a copy of it. Tootles.

i think this is the workout special k is talking about. I love it!!! I do it at least 3 times a week. You can really feel the workout later. I also use small weights and do pilates to keep toning up. And I do this at home as well. No gym for me either. Hope this helps!

YES that is it! That's the one...it's in the latest issue of Self that has Eva Longoria on the cover...I think it's March, because it has the month one Challenge in there as well. Thanks Layla!
